A huge part of our ethos is centred around leaving the world a better, safer place for generations to come. Through the development of sustainable, smart locking solutions, we aim to contribute to the prosperous, healthy future of our planet.
Through creating products that focus on use instead of ownership, static convenience instead of transport and delivery, and the adoption of environmentally durable and conscious materials, our smart lockers ensure a high-quality and reusable locking solution that contributes to sustainability.
ISO quality and environmental management system
From September 2024, Keynius is ISO certified, meeting the utmost high-quality standards of process safety and quality management cf. ISO 9001 and Environmental Management System ISO 14001. In addition, Keynius is ISO 27001 certified for Information Security.
Through our ‘use over ownership’ ethos, we aim to cut back on unnecessary waste and product development through smart, durable materials and the adoption of sustainable production practices. We want to create a second, third or even fourth life for smart lockers, looking at where in the development, production and delivery of our products and services we can make sustainable improvements, such as in material selection, recycling and transport. We believe in a prosperous planet for future generations and keep this in mind throughout every step of our production and deployment process.
All our smart lockers are produced from materials that are free of heavy metals (limit values cf. EN 71-3) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Our powder coating is also 100% solvent-free and recyclable, and all steel consists of maximally recycled raw materials.
During our production process, we ensure no water or air emissions take place during production, and never use harmful chemical products from the ‘List of black substances’ – utilising only the highest-quality and robust materials.
During the production of our wooden lockers, the residual material (average 20%) is reused in the production process rather than disposed of. We track this through Wood Loop, which registers how much residual material is returned and how much CO₂ is saved as a result.

Through the sole supply of excellent-quality products with an extensive warranty period and long-term delivery of replacement parts, we guarantee a minimal waste solution. The waste we do process is done in separate streams, ensuring we recycle as much as possible.
Our smart lockers are comprised of 100% recyclable steel and separate components that can be easily recycled after disassembly. We’ll also retrieve products that reach their end of their lifespan for upkeep and further use.
We drive as clean as possible, prioritising electric or at least Euro 6 vehicles. Through managing transport and logistics internally, we’re able prevent empty kilometres and aim to transport to our customers directly as much as possible. Our regular logistic partner also drives electrically and often on hydrogen. We only use recycled – but as little as possible – packaging material and pellets.
All suppliers are required to sign a code of conduct to guarantee that the Smart Locking Group adheres to internationally recognised human rights and takes responsibility for the environment. We will discontinue cooperation with suppliers who do not comply with our rigorous code and set of standards.
Both we, and our clients, are firm in our strife toward sustainability and have taken the steps to track our CO₂ emissions. in addition to our other certifications, we utilise the CO₂ performance ladder to gain better insights into our CO₂ usage, industry statistics and a greater understanding of how and where we can improve.
We pride ourselves on partaking in important initiatives and are transparent about our efforts in this area. You can download our reports below.
